FIGO is excited to be hosting a Regional Congress in Kigali, Rwanda in cooperation with the Rwandan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology and regional partners. Located in the heart of Africa, Kigali serves as an excellent meeting point to bring together FIGO Member Societies and partners in the region. Known as the land of a thousand hills, Rwanda has incredible wildlife, scenery and culture.
We hope that you can attend to experience Rwanda’s remarkable beauty and hospitality and to build relationships in Africa. Rwanda was devastated by Genocide against the Tutsi in 1994 and we must remember the victims and respect the survivors. By holding our Regional Congress in Kigali, FIGO will celebrate and learn from Rwanda’s progress since 1994. The last decade has marked a considerable decrease in maternal, neonatal and child mortality in Rwanda and the country is on the path to Universal Health Coverage (UHC) with over 90% of the Rwandan population using a community-based health insurance scheme.
During the Congress we will explore how Rwanda and other countries can build sustainable strategies to increase standards of care, lower mortality rates and to lead the healthcare sector toward quality and equitable healthcare coverage.
Registration and Abstract Submission to open in December 2019.
